REDUCED-RENT ACCOMMODATION WITH COMPANION/HOUSEMATE ARRANGEMENT

For a female mature student only

€500 per calendar month, including utilities

We are looking for a kind, responsible and emotionally mature woman to share a warm, peaceful family home with an independent older woman in Milford Grange, within walking distance of the University of Limerick.

The accommodation is offered at a significantly reduced monthly rate in recognition of the companionship, reassuring overnight presence and occasional light practical support provided.

Five-night overnight commitment

The successful applicant must commit to sleeping at the residence every night from Sunday through Thursday throughout the agreement.

You will be free to attend college, work, socialise and live independently during the day and evening, but you must return to sleep at the house on these five nights.

Friday and Saturday nights are entirely your own, and you may travel or sleep elsewhere if you wish.

Occasional additional nights away may be requested at least two weeks in advance and must be agreed in writing beforehand. Regular or spontaneous additional nights away cannot be accommodated, except in a genuine emergency.

The reduced rent is offered specifically in exchange for this reliable five-night overnight presence. This is therefore not suitable for someone who needs complete flexibility about where they sleep during the week. Please apply only if you can confidently maintain this commitment.

Nature of the arrangement

This is not a formal care role. Professional carers visit each day, and the arrangement is intended to complement, not replace, this existing support.

The housemate would be expected to offer friendly, natural companionship and occasionally help with small household tasks, such as:

Making a cup of tea

Bringing in delivered shopping

Loading or putting on the dishwasher

Taking out household bins when needed

The arrangement does not include personal care, medication management, nursing duties or responsibility for the older woman’s health or safety.

This opportunity would particularly suit a mature student studying nursing, medicine, social care, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, psychology or a related subject.

The successful applicant should be warm, trustworthy, reliable and respectful of the older woman’s independence, privacy and established routines. She should also be comfortable living in a quiet and peaceful home.
